Temper Tantrums

So, I realize that at this age (10 months), Anya is still a little too young to be really disciplined if she does something bad. But lately, if I tell her "no", or have to take something away from her (that she isn't supposed to have), she thows a temper tantrum! She flips over backwards, and yells, screams, and cries. So, the only way that I know of dealing with that, is placing her on a safe surface (i.e. - not the kitchen tile) and just walking into another room, while still listening to her. Usually, she cries for a bit, and then realizes that there is nobody watching her flipping out, and continues to play with something else. Does anybody else do the same thing?

All About The Frozen Binky!

Before I had my baby girl, I had no idea that getting a baby to fall asleep would be such an ordeal. Add teething on top of a fussy baby and that should be enough to drive any normal human being up the wall, especially at 11 at night. So my frozen binky method came out of necessity to find something that would calm her down enough to fall asleep. When my little angel was about 3 months old, i thought that she might be starting to teethe, because she would be extra fussy throughout the day and at nap and bed time. I knew that she was too young for teethers, so I though about something that can soothe her and still be safe to place in her mouth. I decided that a pacifier (binky as I call it) would be the safest. So I washed a pacifier and placed it in the freezer. When it was time for bed, I put her in her crib as usual, gave her a regular pacifier and patted her butt a couple of times, then walked away. I did this a couple of times, as she kept fussing, and then I gave her a frozen binky and she fell asleep right away. At first I thought that this might just be a coincidence, that she was already tired and would have fallen asleep with any binky. But then I followed the exact same steps the next time, and it worked again. Since then, I have been making sure that there is a clean frozen binky in the freezer at all times. And when it came to nap time, I would just let her fuss a little at first, and then give her a frozen binky, and she falls asleep right away. So I decided to create this blog to share my experiences with other moms, in hopes of maybe helping others with the same problem.
